GRAMMY DETAILS!!!

In my efforts to get my previous blog published, I glossed over the details! Here they are:

February 10, 2012 in LA, a gazillion music industry people (we are all friends, of course) will flood the city for this prestigious event.

I am attending under the auspices of a recording made with the Kansas City Chorale called ‘Life and Breath: Choral Works of Rene Clausen‘. The Chorale, under the leadership of Charles Bruffy, recorded this in January of 2011(I am fairly certain) for the Chandos label. This recording is nominated in three categories:

1) Best Engineering

2) Producer of the Year (amid his body of work)

3) Best Choral Performance (this one is the big deal for the group)

It will be quite the event, but not nearly as glamorous as it sounds. We arrive in formal attire (shopping required) at the event at about 11:00AM. We wander through the paparazzi brigade…who are largely uninterested, but take our photos anyway. There is even a select cheering section that hoots and hollers as you pass! We then proceed to the first round of the awards. There are about 110 Grammy Awards presented during the entire event; the first 100 are presented in the afternoon. Following our spectacular win (affirmations, y’all), we will be herded into another area to wait for the seating to open for the evening event. Vendors sell hot dogs and soft drinks…really glamorous, huh? Then, we shuffle to our seats and watch the same thing you all watch at home… with the bonus of seeing all of the set changes, lighting wizards working their magic, etc. After the event, we are again herded to the fun part: The Official After-Party!

Basically, it is a lavish spread of a variety of foods. Cirque de Soleil, Cyndi Lauper, and a variety of the music world’s mainstays are there to mingle (a bit, at a price I am sure), and even perform throughout. It is an absolute riot for the senses… and I can hardly wait!

That said, send good thoughts for our album! You can even grab one, if you want…rich, beautiful melodies handled with exquisite care, if I may say so…
